Case Analysis - How a Small Jam Producer Achieved Fast Filling with Rotor Pump Filling Machine
By:Salinovate Team
I. Customer Need: Fast Filling Need for the Fruit Jam with Soft Particles
This case study focuses on a smal domestic fruit jam producer in an urgent need for the fast filling machine. With increased market recognition, the filling speed of the semi-automatic and manual filling machine failed to catch the selling speed. Therefore, the customer urgently needed a small-scale automatic filling machine to expand production capacity. The final solution agreed upon was our SLJF-1 series automatic single-head rotor pump filling machine. The following is a detailed case analysis process.

II. Technical Communication and Solution Customization
Upon receiving the customer's inquiry, our sales team immediately engaged in in-depth technical discussions. The customer's production needs and the characteristics of the fruit jam are summarized as follows:
Demand Dimension | Specific Requirements |
Filling speed | ≥800BPH(500ml bottle) |
Bottle adaptation | 250ml and 500ml PET bottle |
Material properties | Contain tiny soft fruit particles, no need to keep the size. |
Automation level | Simple to operate, reducing manual intervention. |
Space limit | The equipment needs to be compact and adaptable to the existing layout. |
Key Selection Points:
1)Metering Pump: Rotor pump are preferred, as their delivery speed is superior to piston and gear pumps. They also offer more flexibility in capacity expansion compared to the other two types. Furthermore, in this case, the fruit jam contains micro-sized, soft particles, and the particle breakage caused by the rotor rotation of the rotary pump is acceptable to the customer.
2)Fully Automatic Model: The customer is currently a small-scale manufacturer, and our SLJF-1 series single-head small high-speed filling machine already meets their needs.
3)Hopper Design: The standard hopper is a separate small conical hopper. In this solution, we designed a horizontal hopper with a stirring mechanism. Because the jam contains micro-particles, this design ensures uniform particle distribution during filling.
4)Liquid Level Sensor: A liquid level sensor is installed above the feed cover. The feeding pump automatically starts when the hopper is low and stops when it is high, achieving fully automatic feeding and reducing manual intervention.

5)Chain conveyor line: Bottle spacing can be quickly adjusted (250ml/500ml switching) by adjusting the spacing of the adjusting rods on the conveyor line. Matches the filling speed, eliminating bottle jamming.
6)Independent rotor pump automatic feeding system: Equipped with a dedicated rotor pump as the automatic feeding pump, directly linked to the customer's batching cart. The entire process from batching to filling is automated, saving on manual handling costs.

III. Solution Confirmation and Rapid Procurement
After receiving the quote, the customer approved the technical solution but still had concerns about the interface between the feeding pump and the batching vehicle—a point they hadn't anticipated. Our technical staff provided a detailed explanation of the solution via video conference:
1)Solution Items: Show videos of similar equipment and provide detailed explanations of each function.
2)Drawing Presentation: Using 2D drawings to demonstrate the interface design between the feeding pump and the batching vehicle.
3)Q&A Session: Answering the client's questions one by one regarding pipe connections, cleaning methods, and troubleshooting.
Within 48 hours of solution confirmation, the client finalized the purchase contract.
IV. On-site Commissioning and Outstanding Results
As a domestic customer, our technical staff traveled to their factory for installation and commissioning. On-site, only the feeding pipes and electrical circuits needed to be connected before the equipment entered the commissioning phase. After adjusting parameters such as the filling nozzle depth and filling speed according to the actual bottle type, the equipment was quickly put into trial operation.

The test results were encouraging: filling a 500ml bottle of jam took only about 4 seconds per cycle, easily achieving a production capacity of 900 bottles per hour, far exceeding the customer's expectation of 800 bottles/hour. The entire filling process was precise and stable, with no drips or deviations. The customer's on-site manager praised the equipment's efficiency and stability. You can click the rotor pump type jam filling machine working video to watch the entire filling process by conducting on-site testing and producing food.
V. Case Summary: Small Automatic Rotor Pump Filling Machine for Fast Filling Need
The success of this collaboration provides replicable experience for the fast filling need of similar small and medium-sized jam manufacturers:
5.1 Key Success Factors
1)Technology Matching: For jams containing soft particles, and where the particles are not easily broken, the rotor pump type ensures the speed.
2)Systems Thinking: Not just a filling machine, but a complete automation system from ingredient preparation to filling (feeding pump + mixing hopper + filling machine + conveyor line)
3)Transparent Communication: Video demonstrations and floor plans ensure the client understands how the equipment operates before signing the contract.
4)On-site Service: Technical personnel provide on-site commissioning to ensure rapid production commencement.
5.2 Applicable Scenarios
This filling solution is particularly suitable for:
Condition | Explanation of the Situation |
Sauce type | Smooth hot sauce, fruit jam, slad, ketchup, peanut butter, etc; The sauces with soft particles without the need to keep the size. |
Enterprise size | Small to medium-sized enterprises, with a hour production capacity of 300-1500 bottles. |
Bottle type | 50ml to 5000ml PET/Glass/Plastic bucket(the conveyor is customized based on the bottle size) |
Automation requirements | Hope to reduce manual labor but do not currently need large multi-head machines. |
