A universal powder grinder machine (also known as a universal mill or universal pulverizer) is a versatile dry material grinding system designed to handle a wide variety of non-demanding powder applications across food, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries. It earns its universal designation from its interchangeable grinding elements, different rotor and fixed plate designs can be swapped in to suit different material characteristics.

 

 

I. How Does A Universal Powder Grinder Work?

 

The machine operates on a straightforward principle: high-speed relative motion between rotating and stationary grinding discs creates impact, friction, and shearing forces that reduce materials to the desired particle size. Powder fineness is controlled by interchangeable screen mesh, simply change the screen to adjust output from coarse to fine.

 

The working procedures of this type powder grinder follow the sequence below:

 

1)Material Feed: Dry material is fed into the grinding chamber via gravity feed or optional screw for big models.

2)Size Reduction: High-speed rotation of the grinding disc (typically 1500-6000 rpm) creates intense impact, friction, and shearing between the rotating and stationary elements.

3)Particle Classification: Ground material passes through a screen mesh (interchangeable) while oversized particles remain in the chamber for further grinding.

4)Discharge: Fine powder exits through the outlet for collection in bags, hoppers, or integrated dust collection systems.

III. Cooling Options for Heat-Sensitive Materials

 

For materials prone to melting or flavor loss from friction heat or for pursuit of higher quality powder products, universal grinders can be equipped with:

 

1)Water-cooled grinding chamber (jacket cooling): There is cooling water inlet port design, the user just needs to prepare the water source and the water tubes.

2)Cold air machine: Support cold air inlet into the milling chamber to quickly lower the grinding temperature. You can set the cooling temperature to nearly 0℃ and even -10℃ to -5℃.

 

The option one is for simple cooling, not very effective; for efficient cooling, the cooling option two is more suggested.
