Industrial powder grinder type: roller grinder
Machine series: SLRG series
Grinding system: grinding pressure between rollers
Grinding purpose: making granular food or coarse food powder
Output size: 8-40 mesh
A roller powder grinder machine is a dry material size reduction device that uses one or more pairs of cylindrical rollers to crush and grind materials through compression and shearing forces. Unlike impact mills that rely on high-speed rotating blades, roller mills apply controlled pressure between rollers to achieve the desired particle size. This type grinder is an ideal solution for making granular food or coarse food powder.
The raw materials enter the roller area from the hopper and pass between the rotating rollers, where they are crushed and ground through compression, shearing, and friction. The gap between the two rollers determines the final particle size, a smaller gap produces finer powder, while a larger gap yields coarser granules. The fineness can be adjusted by turning a handle. Different numbers of roller pairs can be configured as listed in following sheet for different application:
Configuration | Typical Use | Fineness Range |
1 pair (2 rollers) | Granule making | About 8-20 mesh |
2 pairs (4 rollers) | Coarse powder making | About 8-40 mesh |
This type powder grinder machine is mainly designed for the food industry for coarse grinding use. It is wide applied in various nut grinding, seeds grinding, grain grinding, etc.
Nuts with high oil content (40-60% fat) are ideal candidates for roller grinding. The compressive force cracks the nuts into uniform granules without releasing excessive oil or causing paste formation. Typical applications include:
• Peanut granules for confectionery and bakery toppings
• Almond meal for baking and gluten-free flour
• Walnut pieces for ice cream and dessert inclusions
Oil-bearing seeds require careful grinding to release oil for further processing. Roller mills are used for:
• Sesame seed grinding for tahini and halva production
• Rapeseed cracking for oil extraction
• Sunflower meal fractionation for protein enrichment
Beyond oily materials, roller mills excel at milling dry grains to various particle sizes:
• Rice grinding for coarse grits
• Corn cracking for animal feed and grits production
• Wheat milling for semolina
Feature | Description |
Grinding mechanism | Compression and shearing between rotating rollers |
Fineness control | Adjustable roller gap (typically 8-40 mesh) |
Material compatibility | Nuts, seeds, grains, beans, etc |
Production type | Continuous type |
Advantage | No clogging, low temperature rise, consistent particle size |
Key application | Food industry: nuts, sesames, grains, etc |
Select a roller powder grinder when your application involves:
Oily materials (peanuts, sesame, almonds, walnuts, etc) | where other grinders clog |
Coarse granules and powders(8-40 mesh) | where controlled particle distribution matters |
Continuous production | where reliable, jam-free operation is critical |
Low temperature rise | where heat-sensitive materials need protection |
Consider alternative grinding technology (universal powder grinder, hammer mill, air classifier mill, pin mill, or cryogenic grinder) for:
1)Very high oil materials or high sugar materials(liquid nitrogen cryogenic grinder)
2)Coarse to medium fine powder requirements(universal powder grinder, hammer mill, etc)
3)Moderate to fine powder requirements (universal powder grinders, hammer mills, pin mills, etc)
4)High-fiber materials where impact grinding is more efficient(air classifier mill)
